Historic center and Belén market

​

This excursion will allow you to see the main tourist attractions of the city that were built in the rubber era, among which are historical buildings and monuments, such as the iron house, the Morey house, etc.

You will have the opportunity to see the largest market in the city "Mercado Belén" where you can appreciate all the products of our Amazon.

Itinerary:

-Pick up from the hotel

- Tour of the main tourist attractions of the city. Founded in the 19th century, it reached its peak during the "rubber era".

-You will observe the beautiful mosaics and iron balconies that were brought from Europe to adorn the grandiose buildings that housed the prosperous inhabitants of the most representative city of the Peruvian Amazon in a time of prosperity.

-You will be able to appreciate the so-called "Iron House", designed by the renowned Gustave Eiffel and learn about the amazing story of how it was finally transported and built in the main square of Iquitos.

-You will visit the boulevard of Iquitos, a place of concentration for inhabitants and visitors, with an impressive view of the Itaya River and the jungle. 

-We will make a stop at the artisan market, it will allow you to see and buy colorful handicrafts made with materials found in our Amazon forests.

-Immediately after we will visit the Amazon Museum, a wonderful place built in 1863, which was occupied by the General Command of the Army, and later donated to the Prefecture of Loreto. Considered Cultural Historical Heritage of the Nation, restored in 1999, over time it became an important museum of history and culture of the region.

-Exhibits a beautiful wall decoration in carved wood and a set of antique furniture. The most surprising thing about the museum is the collection of 80 sculptures made of fiberglass with life-size representations of the main native communities of the Amazon of Peru, Brazil and Venezuela.

-To finish (optional tour). We will visit the "Belen" market, the largest market that supplies all kinds of basic necessities, you will be able to get to know the famous camu camu, cocona, etc., fresh fruits and vegetables from our Amazon region.
