Manatee Rescue Center and Quistococha Zoo:

The Manatee Rescue Center was created in conjunction with Dalla World Aquarium, the Loreto Regional Production Directorate, the Peruvian Amazon Research Institute and Acobia-DWAzoo. It is a place where visitors can observe the friendly manatees and learn about the work that the staff has been doing to preserve this aquatic mammal, an endangered species.

Visit to the Quistococha National Tourist Park offers visitors the opportunity to observe the fauna of our Amazon. It has a zoo with typical animals of the region, such as otter, jaguar, lizard, etc. In addition, it has a beautiful lagoon that bears the same name as the park.

 

Itinerary:

-Pick up from the hotel

-Visit to the Manatee Rescue Center, to learn about this great place for the rehabilitation and release of endangered specimens of aquatic mammals and wildlife, ensured through an arduous program of environmental education.

-Visit to the Quistococha Zoo, This beautiful natural park is located 8 km from the city, following the route of the Iquitos-Nauta highway.

Here you will be able to appreciate some of the species of the vast Amazonian fauna that are conserved in captivity, including anacondas, ocelots, otorongos, lizards, etc; as well as a variety of primates. You will also be able to admire the largest fish in the river, the paiche.

-You can also enjoy the wonderful landscape and swim in its beautiful lagoon with fresh and limpid waters, where the vegetation and the blue sky are reflected as a mirror. It also has a white sand beach, restaurant and other comfortable and safe facilities for visitors. 

-Return to the hotel or to the airport.

-Approximate distance: 30 min. From Iquitos by highway Iquitos – Nauta

-Departures from Iquitos at 9 am and 02.00 pm
