FROM IQUITOS TO THE HEART OF THE RAINFOREST
YOUR ADVENTURE STARTS HERE!
We’ll welcome you at Iquitos Airport and take you on a short drive through the city to Bellavista Nanay.
Here, you’ll board our private boat and begin your journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
We’ll travel approximately 50 km along the Amazon River, taking around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as we leave the busy city behind.
Little by little, the rainforest will begin to surround you.
And that’s when you’ll know… your adventure has officially begun!
When we arrive at Savia Lodge, we’ll welcome you with a refreshing drink made from local fruits and show you to your room.
Settle in, take a deep breath, and enjoy the moment.
Welcome to your home in the heart of the rainforest. 
LUNCH
After lunch, we’ll head out to explore the Amazon.
WALK AMONG GIANT TREES
We’ll venture into the rainforest to discover one of its most impressive residents:
THE CEIBA TREE
An incredible tree that is more than 200 years old.
During our walk, we’ll also learn about plants traditionally used by local communities and keep our eyes open for wildlife in its natural surroundings.
Look, listen, and enjoy… the rainforest is alive all around you.
DINNER
And when night falls…
THE AMAZON CHANGES
We’ll get ready for an exciting night walk in search of animals that come out after sunset.
We may spot tarantulas, night monkeys, tree boas, and much more.
And if the weather is on our side…
WE’LL ADMIRE THE STARS ABOVE THE RAINFOREST!
Back at the lodge, our guide will share fascinating Amazonian stories and legends to end our first day in a truly special way.

DAY 2
SUNRISE, MONKEYS, SLOTHS & RIVER DOLPHINS
WAKE UP TO THE AMAZON RIVER
Early in the morning, we’ll head out by boat to enjoy one of the most beautiful moments of the trip:
SUNRISE OVER THE AMAZON
Watching the sun rise between the trees as we cruise along the river is an experience that no photograph can truly capture.
You have to be there.
BREAKFAST
And then, the adventure continues!
LET’S MEET THE MONKEYS!
We’ll visit Monkey Island, where you’ll have the chance to meet different species of Amazonian monkeys.
You’ll be able to observe them up close and, following the center’s guidelines, enjoy a special encounter with these curious animals.
Get your camera ready… you’ll probably want to take home more than one unforgettable memory!
LUNCH
After lunch, we’ll continue exploring.
ADVENTURE ON THE YANAYACU RIVER
We’ll cruise along the Yanayacu River, surrounded by lush trees and beautiful rainforest scenery.
During the journey, we’ll keep an eye out for three-toed sloths and other animals living freely in the rainforest.
Here, every outing can bring a surprise!
THE MOMENT EVERYONE IS WAITING FOR
In the afternoon, we’ll head out in search of the famous:
GRAY AND PINK RIVER DOLPHINS
We’ll cruise along the Amazon, watching the water closely for any movement.
And when they appear…
it will be one of those moments you’ll want to remember forever.
If the river and weather conditions are suitable:
YOU MAY EVEN HAVE THE CHANCE TO SWIM IN THE AMAZON RIVER!
Feeling the Amazon’s waters while surrounded by the rainforest is an experience you won’t easily forget.
AND TO END THE DAY…
If the weather is favorable, we’ll enjoy the sunset over the Amazon River.
The sun slowly disappearing behind the trees, the river stretching out before us, and the rainforest all around.
The perfect moment to simply relax and enjoy.

DAY 3
BIRDS, AMAZONIAN CULTURE & PIRANHA FISHING
THE RAINFOREST WAKES UP WITH YOU
We’ll start the day by watching different species of tropical birds found in the Amazon.
As the rainforest comes to life, we’ll enjoy its beautiful sounds and discover some of the incredible birds that call this place home.
BREAKFAST
After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey.
DISCOVER LIFE IN THE AMAZON
We’ll visit an Amazonian village to learn about its traditions, customs, and way of life.
You’ll discover what everyday life is like for families living in this part of the rainforest and learn more about their local traditions.
We’ll also have the opportunity to try some traditional Amazonian drinks.
Here, you won’t just discover beautiful landscapes. You’ll discover stories and meet the people who call the Amazon home.
EXPERIENCE YAGUA CULTURE
Next, we’ll visit a Yagua community.
We’ll learn about their culture, clothing, dances, traditions, and way of life.
You’ll also discover the traditional pucuna, or blowgun, and have the chance to test your aim.
There will also be time to admire their beautiful handicrafts made with local materials.
An opportunity to connect with a culture that is an important part of the Amazon’s rich heritage.

LUNCH
And now…
IT’S TIME TO GO FISHING!
We’ll head out by boat for a fun and exciting Amazonian fishing experience.
You may have the chance to catch:
•    Piranhas 
•    Catfish 
•    Pacu 
•    Sardines 
•    Other local fish species 
Never been fishing before? No problem!
The most important thing is to have fun, try your luck, and enjoy the experience.
During the trip, we may also continue looking for river dolphins.
DINNER
And tonight could be even more special.

Let’s celebrate together!
We can spend time together, enjoy some music, and, if the group feels like it, dance for a while.

DAY 4
AMAZONIAN WILDLIFE, PAICHE & RAINFOREST WONDERS
BREAKFAST
After breakfast, we’ll get ready to continue our adventure.
GET CLOSE TO AMAZONIAN WILDLIFE
We’ll visit an animal rescue and conservation center.
Here, we’ll meet different rainforest species and learn more about their lives and protection.
You’ll have the opportunity to see an impressive anaconda up close, meet a three-toed sloth, discover the fascinating mata mata turtle, and much more.
A wonderful opportunity to get closer to the incredible wildlife of the Amazon.
LUNCH
After lunch, we’ll begin our journey back to Iquitos.
But wait…
ONE LAST ADVENTURE AWAITS!
MEET THE GIANT OF THE AMAZON
Along the way, we’ll visit a paiche fish farm, home to one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.
You’ll be able to see these impressive fish up close and feed them.
We’ll also have the chance to observe caimans, feed other fish species, and discover one of the Amazon’s most remarkable aquatic plants:
THE VICTORIA REGIA
Its enormous leaves and incredible beauty will be among our final rainforest memories before returning to the city.
Afterward, we’ll continue our journey to Iquitos.
TRANSFER TO LA CASONA INN HOTEL
Once we arrive in the city, we’ll take you to La Casona Inn Hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the swimming pool.

DAY 5
DISCOVER THE CHARM OF IQUITOS
BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL
Our final day is all about discovering a little more of the city before we say goodbye.
EXPLORE IQUITOS
We’ll take a walking tour through the historic center of Iquitos, exploring its streets and learning about the city’s history.
We’ll visit Belén, one of the city’s most popular and lively areas, including its traditional market.
We’ll also discover places connected to Amazonian plants and local products, as well as experience the unique atmosphere of the famous Belén neighborhood.
MEET THE AMAZONIAN MANATEE
We’ll visit CREA, a center dedicated to the rescue and care of Amazonian manatees.
Here, we’ll learn more about these incredible animals, their diet, care, and protection.
A final opportunity to say goodbye to the Amazon while learning, exploring, and enjoying one last unforgettable experience.
LUNCH
After lunch, we’ll transfer you to the airport.

Essential Recommendations for Your Amazon Jungle Trip – Savia Tours, Iquitos

What to Bring:

​

Bring a small backpack and lightweight clothing suitable for the warm and humid jungle climate, such as long pants, shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, sandals, sneakers or comfortable shoes, a cap or hat, personal toiletries, swimwear, and a towel.

If you take any medications, please remember to bring them with you. A yellow fever vaccination is not required for this trip.

Additional items, such as rain ponchos, rubber boots, and flashlights, can be purchased in Iquitos if needed.

Optional Donations

If you wish, you may bring donations for the children of the rural community of San Rafael, along the Amazon River. Donations are completely optional and not mandatory. Items such as books, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, and other school supplies are greatly appreciated.
