4-Day Amazon River & Rainforest Experience


Day 1 – Arrival at Savia Lodge & Night Jungle Adventure
Airport pick-up, followed by a brief city tour on the way to Nanay Port, where we will board our private boat. The Nanay River is a tributary of the Amazon River.
Journey to Savia Lodge: cruise approximately 50 km along the Amazon River by private boat, taking around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Upon arrival at Savia Lodge, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink made with regional fruits, followed by check-in and room assignment.
Self-service lunch.
Primary rainforest hike to discover the majestic Ceiba tree, which is more than 200 years old, while learning about traditional Amazonian medicinal plants.
Self-service dinner.
Night jungle excursion to search for tarantulas, nocturnal monkeys, tree boas, and other fascinating wildlife. Weather permitting, you will also have the opportunity to admire the stars and constellations over the Amazon rainforest.
Enjoy traditional Amazonian stories and legends narrated by your guide.
Overnight at Savia Lodge.


Day 2 – Sunrise, Monkey Island & Amazon River Dolphins
Amazon River sunrise: enjoy the unforgettable experience of watching the sun rise over the lush forests of the Peruvian Amazon.
Self-service breakfast.
Visit Monkey Island, where you can observe different species of monkeys in their natural habitat and, where permitted, interact closely with these curious primates. Enjoy a unique and unforgettable wildlife experience.
Self-service lunch.
Amazon River dolphin watching: look for the famous gray and pink river dolphins, unique freshwater species of the Amazon, with the opportunity to swim with the dolphins in designated areas.
Sunset on the Amazon River: admire the spectacular scenery as the sun sets behind the rainforest.
Self-service dinner.

Day 3 – Birdwatching, Yagua Culture & Piranha Fishing
Birdwatching excursion: discover a variety of tropical and endemic bird species that inhabit the Amazon rainforest.
Self-service breakfast.
Visit a Yagua Indigenous community to learn about their language, traditional clothing, dances, culture, and traditional ways of life in the rainforest. You will also have the opportunity to experience the pucuna (blowgun), traditionally used by the Yagua for hunting.
Self-service lunch.
Piranha fishing: enjoy an exciting fishing experience and try your hand at catching piranhas, catfish, pacu, sardines, and other Amazonian fish.
Self-service dinner.
Farewell celebration for groups of 10 or more, featuring live traditional Amazonian music performed by our musical group “Encanto del Amazonas.” Complimentary cake for birthdays or anniversaries.

Day 4 – Canoe Exploration, Local Culture & Return to Iquitos
Canoe exploration: discover the Amazon environment from a different perspective as you navigate quietly through the waterways using paddles instead of a motor.
Self-service breakfast.
Visit an Amazonian village to learn about local traditions, culture, daily activities, and traditional ways of life in the rainforest. You will also have the opportunity to try traditional Amazonian herbal drinks.
Visit a wildlife rescue center to see rescued Amazonian animals, including anacondas and three-toed sloths, observe the fascinating mata mata turtle, and discover other wildlife.
Self-service lunch.
Return to Iquitos. Along the way, visit a paiche fish farm to learn about the Arapaima gigas (paiche), one of the largest freshwater fish in the world. You will also have the opportunity to feed the caimans and fish and admire the Victoria regia, the world's largest aquatic water lily.
Transfer to the airport.

Essential Recommendations for Your Amazon Jungle Trip – Savia Tours, Iquitos

What to Bring:

Bring a small backpack and lightweight clothing suitable for the warm and humid jungle climate, such as long pants, shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, sandals, sneakers or comfortable shoes, a cap or hat, personal toiletries, swimwear, and a towel.

If you take any medications, please remember to bring them with you. A yellow fever vaccination is not required for this trip.

Additional items, such as rain ponchos, rubber boots, and flashlights, can be purchased in Iquitos if needed.

Optional Donations

If you wish, you may bring donations for the children of the rural community of San Rafael, along the Amazon River. Donations are completely optional and not mandatory. Items such as books, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, and other school supplies are greatly appreciated.
