DAY 1

Welcome to Iquitos

From Iquitos to the Heart of the Rainforest!

Your adventure begins the moment you arrive.

 

Our team will welcome you at the airport and take you on a short drive through the streets of Iquitos to the Bellavista Nanay pier.

 Here, we’ll board our private boat, leave the city behind, and begin our journey into the Amazon rainforest.

 Heading to the Majestic Amazon River!

 We’ll cruise along the Nanay River until we reach the impressive Amazon River.

 We’ll travel approximately 50 km by private boat, taking around 1 hour and 30 minutes, as the city slowly disappears and the rainforest begins to surround us.

 This is where your escape from the everyday begins.

 When we arrive, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing drink made with fresh regional fruits.

Step Into the Rainforest and Discover Its Secrets

 We’ll take a rainforest walk to discover the impressive Ceiba tree, an Amazonian giant that is more than 200 years old.

 Along the way, you’ll discover different rainforest plants and learn about some of the plants traditionally used by Amazonian communities.

 And we have a special mission!

 We’ll keep our eyes on the trees as we search for the tiny and fascinating:

 Lion Tamarin Monkey

 One of the smallest primates in the world.

 Finding one among the vegetation is a real challenge—and that’s exactly what makes it so exciting!

 When it finally appears, the excitement is unforgettable!

 Keep your camera ready. The rainforest can surprise you at any moment.

 

Dinner

 After our walk and rainforest exploration, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner.

 When Night Falls, the Rainforest Comes Alive!

 Want to discover what the Amazon is like after the sun goes down?

 Then get ready for an exciting night rainforest excursion.

 Together with our guides, we’ll head out in search of some of the creatures that become active after dark.

 And when we return to the lodge...

DAY 2

Wake Up on the Amazon River!

A Sunrise You’ll Never Forget

 Wake up early and watch as the first rays of sunlight appear above the Amazon rainforest and reflect across the waters of the Amazon River.

 A peaceful moment to breathe, relax, and simply let nature surprise you.

 Dare to Fish for Piranhas!

 Now it’s time for one of the most exciting activities of the trip.

 We’ll grab our fishing rods and head out onto the Amazon waters.

 You may catch:

 Piranhas

Catfish

Pacu

Sardines

And other species!

 Can you imagine telling your friends you caught a piranha in the Amazon?

 Now you can make it happen!

 

Breakfast

 After our fishing adventure, we’ll return for breakfast before continuing our journey.

 Let’s Meet the Monkeys!

 We’ll visit Monkey Island, where you’ll see different species of monkeys and learn more about these fascinating Amazonian animals.

 Watch them up close, see their playful movements, and enjoy fun moments you’ll definitely want to capture in photos.

 A wonderful experience for both adults and children.

Let’s Go Find the Pink River Dolphins!

 And now... one of the most anticipated encounters of the trip.

 We’ll cruise along the Amazon River in search of the famous pink and gray river dolphins.

 Seeing them appear between the waters of the Amazon is one of those moments that makes an Amazon adventure truly special.

 And if conditions are right...

 You Can Swim in the Amazon River!

 Yes!

 You’ll be able to say: “I swam in the Amazon!”

 An exciting experience you’ll remember for years to come.

 Discover the Culture of the Yagua People

 Our adventure continues with a visit to a Yagua community.

 Here, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about their traditions, traditional clothing, dances, and way of life in the rainforest.

You’ll also have the chance to discover and try the traditional:

Pucuna, or Blowgun

A traditional hunting tool historically used by the Yagua people.

You’ll also have time to admire their beautiful handmade crafts created with local materials and, if you wish, take home a special souvenir from your visit.

This is more than just a visit.

 It’s an opportunity to connect with a living part of Amazonian culture.

 

Lunch

Enjoy our final lunch before beginning our journey back to Iquitos.

During our return to Iquitos, we’ll stop at a paiche fish farm.

Here, you’ll meet the impressive:

PAICHE (Arapaima)

One of the largest freshwater fish in the world.

You’ll be able to see these incredible fish up close and take part in feeding them.

RECOMMENDATIONS – WHAT TO BRING
Essential Recommendations for Your Amazon Jungle Trip – Savia Tours, Iquitos

What to Bring:

​

Bring a small backpack and lightweight clothing suitable for the warm and humid jungle climate, such as long pants, shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, sandals, sneakers or comfortable shoes, a cap or hat, personal toiletries, swimwear, and a towel.

If you take any medications, please remember to bring them with you. A yellow fever vaccination is not required for this trip.

Additional items, such as rain ponchos, rubber boots, and flashlights, can be purchased in Iquitos if needed.

Optional Donations

If you wish, you may bring donations for the children of the rural community of San Rafael, along the Amazon River. Donations are completely optional and not mandatory. Items such as books, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, and other school supplies are greatly appreciated.
