5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS IN THE AMAZON
DAY 1: YOUR ADVENTURE BEGINS
Airport pickup: We’ll welcome you at Iquitos Airport and take you on a short drive through the city to Bellavista Nanay, where you’ll board our boat. The Nanay River is a tributary of the Amazon River.
Journey to the lodge: We’ll travel approximately 50 km along the Amazon River by private boat, taking around 1 hour and 30 minutes, until we reach Savia Lodge and begin exploring the wonderful rainforest.
Welcome drink: Upon arrival at Savia Lodge, enjoy a refreshing drink made with local fruits before settling into your room.
LUNCH
Rainforest walk: Explore the jungle and discover the impressive ceiba tree, more than 200 years old. Learn about traditional medicinal plants and look for wildlife in its natural habitat.
DINNER
Nighttime rainforest adventure: Explore the jungle after dark in search of tarantulas, night monkeys, tree boas, and other fascinating creatures. Depending on the weather, we may also enjoy the beautiful night sky.
Amazonian stories and legends: Relax as our guide shares fascinating stories and legends from the Amazon.

DAY 2: SUNRISE, MONKEYS & RIVER DOLPHINS
Amazon sunrise: Enjoy the spectacular sunrise from the Amazon River as the sun rises over the lush forests of the Peruvian Amazon.
BREAKFAST
Monkey Island: Visit Monkey Island to see different species of monkeys in their natural surroundings. Enjoy a close encounter with these curious primates and take home a truly unforgettable memory.
LUNCH
Yanayacu River exploration: Cruise along the Yanayacu River, known for its dark waters, in search of three-toed sloths and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
Pink and gray river dolphins: Search for these fascinating freshwater dolphins, unique to the Amazon. If river and weather conditions are suitable, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the Amazon River.
Amazon sunset: Enjoy a breathtaking sunset as the sun slowly disappears behind the Amazon rainforest.
DINNER

DAY 3: CULTURE, NATURE & ADVENTURE
Birdwatching: Discover different species of tropical and native birds as the Amazon rainforest comes to life.
BREAKFAST
Visit an Amazonian village: Learn about local traditions, culture, daily activities, and life in the rainforest. You’ll also have the opportunity to try traditional Amazonian herbal drinks.
Visit the Yagua community: Discover their language, traditional clothing, dances, and way of life. You’ll also learn about and try the traditional pucuna, or blowpipe, historically used for hunting by the Yagua people.
Take some time to admire their beautiful handicrafts made from local materials.
LUNCH
Piranha fishing adventure: Enjoy a fun fishing experience in the Amazon, where you can try catching piranhas, catfish, pacu, sardines, and other local fish.
We’ll also have another opportunity to search for river dolphins.
DINNER
A special evening at the lodge: If someone in the group is celebrating a birthday, we’ll celebrate together! We can also enjoy some music and dance for a while if the group wishes.

DAY 4: NATURE & AMAZONIAN WILDLIFE
BREAKFAST
Animal rescue and conservation center: Get a closer look at incredible Amazonian wildlife, including anacondas, three-toed sloths, and the fascinating mata mata turtle.
Discover more about the amazing animals that call the rainforest home.
LUNCH
Return to Iquitos: On our way back, we’ll visit a paiche fish farm to discover the impressive paiche (Arapaima gigas), one of the largest freshwater fish in the world.
You’ll have the chance to feed the paiche, observe caimans, admire the magnificent Victoria Regia, feed other fish species, and enjoy even more Amazonian wildlife experiences.
Hotel transfer: Transfer to La Casona Inn Hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the swimming pool.
DAY 5: DISCOVER IQUITOS
BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL
City tour of Iquitos: Enjoy a walking tour through the historic center of the city.
We’ll visit Belén, home to one of the largest and most lively markets in Iquitos, explore the area known for its medicinal plants, and discover the popular Belén neighborhood.
Visit CREA: Visit the Amazonian Manatee Rescue Center, dedicated to the care and protection of these endangered mammals.
Learn about their diet, conservation, and breeding programs, as well as the important work being done to protect them.

Essential Recommendations for Your Amazon Jungle Trip – Savia Tours, Iquitos
What to Bring:
Bring a small backpack and lightweight clothing suitable for the warm and humid jungle climate, such as long pants, shorts, T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, sandals, sneakers or comfortable shoes, a cap or hat, personal toiletries, swimwear, and a towel.
If you take any medications, please remember to bring them with you. A yellow fever vaccination is not required for this trip.
Additional items, such as rain ponchos, rubber boots, and flashlights, can be purchased in Iquitos if needed.
Optional Donations
If you wish, you may bring donations for the children of the rural community of San Rafael, along the Amazon River. Donations are completely optional and not mandatory. Items such as books, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, colored pencils, rulers, and other school supplies are greatly appreciated.
